This was our 5th time buying a home. In the past, we had used several different agents to buy and sell our homes, ranging from budget realtors such as Redfin, to referrals through Zillow and family friends. Each time, we felt the commission to be a huge waste of money because the agents went through the motion of putting in our bid and doing the paperwork, but added no real value beyond what a computer program could have done.
